Thanksgiving is this Thursday!  Yes, it came faster than usual but there is no need to panic.  I have put together a great list of tips to help you have a stress free Thanksgiving.

If you are hosting Thanksgiving at your house this year, there is a good chance that you are freaking out right now.  Don't worry, there is still plenty of time for you to pull it off without any stress involved. Follow these tips and you will be set.

1. Double and Triple Check Your Grocery List

This is so important.  Go over any and all recipes that you are planning on making and make sure you have all the ingredients.  There is nothing worse that missing that one thing and running to the store the and not finding it.  Also, make sure you have plenty of beverages for everyone, adults and kids.

2. Allow Plenty of Time For Turkey to Defrost

I know this sounds crazy, but the worst thing would be for your turkey not to be ready on time.  It can take days for your turkey to be thawed.  It is best for you defrost in the refrigerator and that takes 1 day per 5 pounds.  So if you are planning on cooking a 20 lb bird, you are looking at 4 days.  Click here for more defrosting tips.

3. Make sure you have plenty of room

If you are inviting a lot of people over, you'll want to make sure that you have enough places to sit.  If you have to borrow tables and chairs do that now and rearrange ahead of time to make sure there is plenty of room.

4. Prepare Ahead of Time

This is a very important tip.  Do as much as you can the before Thursday.  If you are decorating, do that the night before.  You can do all your desserts ahead of time.  And there are plenty of dishes that you can make and just reheat on Thanksgiving morning, like green bean casserole or dressing.  Make as many things ahead of time as possible so you won't be in a rush on Thanksgiving day.

5.Delegate

There is nothing wrong with getting help.  If someone offers to help say thank you and allow them to bring a dish.  Don't try and do it all alone, that is way too much work.  Not only will you feel less stressed, but others will glad to help.

6.Manage the Kids

There is nothing worse than you hurrying around doing this and that and tripping on a toy or being bugged by your kids.  You love them, but it will be nice to have them occupied.  We always have a ton of kids running around so my mom would delegate a play room where the kids could hang out.  She would even make sure to have plenty of movies for them to watch.  And if it's beautiful outside, them them play.

These are a few tips that have helped me and I know would help you too.  So relax, don't stress and make this Thanksgiving a success.
