Does crime seem to be on an increase in Amarillo?  Maybe it just feels like it...  Either way, two kids ages 14 and 11 were arrested after being caught red-handed breaking into a truck.  This led to the recovery of more stolen items from other vehicles.

The arrests took place just after 4:50am on Saturday.  Which begs the question, what is an 11 year old doing prowling streets and committing crimes at that hour?

Now, I wasn't the perfect child, my parents can verify that.  I got caught stealing when I was 12, I remember the ride home from the police station.  My dad wouldn't talk to me or even look at me. That's how I knew he was mad! I straightened up right then and there! Took about a week for him to speak to me.  Then, he made me read the bible and write an essay a day for 2 weeks about what I read.  That fixed me right up!

"On Saturday March 29th, at approximately 4:50am, APD field officers were on patrol checking residential neighborhoods. Officers were patrolling in the 2200 block of S Milam when they observed a white Lincoln Towncar prowling around the area. As the officer was watching the Lincoln, he observed two male subjects exit the Lincoln and approached a Dodge Ram PU in the driveway. One male opened the driver’s side door while the other opened the rear passenger side door of the PU. As the officer was approaching the suspects, the driver noticed the officer approaching and alerted the two suspects at the PU. Both subjects then took off running on foot and the driver sped off as well. Additional officers came to the area and began searching for the suspects. Officers later located a white Lincoln Towncar sitting in a nearby driveway. As officers approached the vehicle they located a male driver and another male sitting in the rear passenger side seat. Both male occupants were pretending to be asleep. They were removed from the vehicle and secured in patrol cars. Inside the Towncar was a gray purse along with two different GPS systems. The purse was later found to have been stolen out of a vehicle in the 4200 block of Cline and one of the GPS systems was found to have been stolen out of a vehicle in the 1400 SW 35th. These items were returned to the owners. The PU on Milam had two shotguns stolen out of it and was recovered when the suspects took off running. The two males were later identified as juveniles one 14 the other 11. Both were transported and booked into the Youth Center of the High Plains. The third individual has not been located or identified at this time."
