With the Panhandle having a lot of moisture this summer that means the "skeeters" also known as mosquitoes have been out in full force.

Here's a couple of home remedies that have been heard to work at keeping off the mosquitoes when you don't have repellent spray. I've tried a couple this remedies and they do work. Here's a few more ideas that I haven't tried definitely worth trying.

1. Fabric Softener Sheets

Take fabric softener sheets and rub it on your skin. This might irritate your skin so be cautious.

3. Garlic

Garlic is used in many mosquito repellants used in landscaping. Before you head out to fight off the mosquitoes try eating a little garlic or add some in your meal and watch it work. You can also simmer a dozen garlic cloves in 2 cups of water to make an outdoor spray.

5. Coffee Grounds

Save your coffee grounds. and place them in an open container for approximately 1 month. Sprinkle the aged grounds in standing water to kill larvae. Spray leftover coffee on outdoor surfaces to act as a deterrent as well. Place it in a spray bottle after it has cooled and spray all over your body.
