An innocent 7-year old Guatemalan girl has died while in US Customs and Border Protection custody.

Seven year old Jakelin Amei Rosmery Caal Maquin and her father were caught crossing the border illegally and subsequently were detained and taken into custody last week.

According to CBSLocal, both the father and child were being transported to a Border Patrol station in Lordsburg, NM when the child became visibly ill and began throwing up and that’s when emergency medics discovered that the child had a high fever of 105.7 degrees and was having difficulty breathing. The child was then airlifted to a hospital in El Paso, TX were soon after medics identified that she had been suffering from septic shock and dehydration leading to liver failure and swelling of the brain and later died on December 8, 2018.

At this point there has been no official statement from the Trump administration but officials such as Texas Democrat Congressman Joaquin Castro and Texas Representative Beto O’Rourke along with human right activists are calling for a full investigation.
