An easy way to find out everything you need to know about the city you live in, is to simply go online. I dug into the vaults at YouTube to see what I could find that pertained to Amarillo, and I have taken my search to crowdfunding sites.

It took a little digging. Kickstarter is not quite the busiest place on the web when searching for Amarillo. GoFundMe is full of tragic circumstances. I was, however, able to find a few projects that offered a different look at our city through the lens of crowdfunding.

    72oz Steak Challenge

This individual took to KickStarter to fund his attempt at eating the big meal at the Big Texan. The project got fully funded, and he finished the entire meal. Backers got some extra goodies with the money that wasn't spent on the 72oz behemoth.

    Stealing home

Ok, this one is a little tricky. It's a long read. So for those of us who are light on attention span to spare, here's a tl;dr for you:

According to this campaign's page, the city's leadership has not followed proper protocol in the process of building the ballpark (mega simplified terms being used here). The organizer is raising money to bring these issues to court.

The campaign is still open, and honestly the information was worth the read. Just took a little bit. There's a lot of stuff there.

    Finders Keepers 2

This one got funding over at KickStarter. Finders Keepers 2 is the sequel to Finders Keepers. It's a comic about animals who have their own society and culture in a world where humans don't exist. It's like Milo & Otis meets Castaway. No people. Just animals. And those animals have adventures, in a "hand-drawn" style.

    The Geektastic Honeymoon

This one only got partially funded. This couple wanted to have their dream honeymoon by attending Blizzcon, a celebration of all things Blizzard (think Overwatch, Diablo, World of Warcraft, Starcraft....that Blizzard).

Unfortunately, the last update on the campaign page only states that tickets had been purchased to go to Blizzcon, and they were moving on to hopefully get their plane tickets.
