A New, More Powerful PainKiller Zohydro Could Cause Even More Prescription Medication Abuse

It is no secret that prescription pills are one of the most abused drugs in today's society.  So when a more powerful pain pill is being developed, the first thing that comes to experts minds is a new wave of addiction.

Drug companies are always working to put out better medication to help doctors and their patients.  Right now, drug companies are working on a new, more pure form of hydrocodone.  The new pills would contain up to 10 times the amount of the drug as Vicodin contains.

Currently hydrocodone pain pills are mixed with nonaddictive painkillers such as acetaminophen, but if approved, patients would legally be able to purchase pure hydrocodone.  This causes major concern for various critics.

The critics believe that if this pill is approved, its abuse will surpass that of oxycodone, which is the most abused medicine in the U.S. today.

In my opinion, there is always going to be some drug to abuse.  I say if the good outweighs the bad then why not.  And according to the pharmaceutical companies, the drug is only intended to help doctors and all patients will be closely monitored.

We will have to wait and see what happens.
