Education is very important, especially at an early age.  Children learn the most before the age of five.  A new program is coming to Amarillo to help parents get involved with their kids education.

It is very important to start teaching your kids at an early age, but a lot of parents don't even know where to being.  There is a program in Amarillo that not many people know about called HIPPY or Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters.

It is a readiness program, that gets parents involved with their children's education at an early age. HIPPY has been around for four years now and as of now is not income based.

With this program, a home educator will go to your home, at a time that is convenient to the you, to go over a curriculum.  They will help show how to work with your child at your convenience.  The recommended amount of time to work with your toddlers is about 10-15 minutes a day.

Scholarships to parents of 3 (as of Sept 1 this year) and 4 year olds are available to those interested.  HIPPY is holding an open enrollment event at the Chase Building 600 s Tyler Thursday Sept. 17 from 9-5 and it is a come and go.  You can get signed up or just learn more information.
