One of my favorite cartoons growing up was Shirt Tales.  However, any time I get into a conversation about this particular cartoon very few people remember the Shirt Tales.

It was a cartoon about 5 animals living in a tree in Oak Tree Par and they were crime fighters and mystery solvers.  Let's see there was Rick the Raccoon, Pammy the Panda, Bogey the Orangutan, Digger the Mole and Tyg the Tiger.  Oh and Kip the Kangaroo, but she didn't show up until season 2.   They all wore different colored shirts that flashed what they were thinking.  Plus they were always giving a hard time to Mr. Dinkel.

I loved this cartoon.  I was beginning to think I was the only one that was able to enjoy it's awesomeness.

Well fast forward to today, I was in Hallmark the other day and there on a shelf was my childhood favorites.  If there was a maximum giddy level, I reached it at that moment.    A Hallmark employee just happened to be standing there and I asked her if the Shirt Tales were making a comeback.  Although, she was way too young to remember the cartoon, she told me that the Shirt Tales was a Hallmark creation.  I didn't know this, but I did some research.

The Shirt Tales were created by Janet Elizabeth Manco in 1980.  She was a greeting card designer and her creation were featured on Hallmark Cards.

Then in 1982 Hanna-Barbera turned those cute little greeting card characters into a cartoon.  The cartoon aired on NBC for two seasons during Saturday Morning Cartoons.

If you remember them enjoy reminiscing with me, if you don't then enjoy getting to know more about the Shirt Tales.
