Amarillo Animal Control has unveiled a comprehensive new website that allows users to search for their missing dog or cat by breed, gender and color.  This finally comes years after the Lost Pets of Amarillo Facebook page.  Listings also include date and location of pickup, kennel number, case number and, where possible, photographs of the animal.  Owners can also contact Animal Control directly about their pet through the website.  It's safe to say, the City of Amarillo is catching up to the year 2014!

"Owners have three days to reclaim their pets before those pets become available to the public for adoption. The goal of the Lost Pets tool is to keep pets in the shelter a minimum amount of time before returning them to their homes and families.

“The best scenario is being able to return lost pets to their homes in the field,” McDonald says. “However, for situations when the Animal Control officer is unable to find the owner on-site and the pet is impounded, we want to offer owners a user-friendly tool that allows them to find their pets as quickly as possible.”
