If you remember, back in 2011 on Polk St. in downtown Amarillo, a shooting took place, where police shot and killed Claudio Trujillo as they opened fire on his SUV while he was trying to flee the scene (video above).  A civil rights lawsuit took place, and today a verdict awarded $760,000 to the Trujillo family.

Many people felt like the shooting left Amarillo Police in the wrong, that Claudio was a good person and was not trying to cause any harm at all when the incident took place.

While the parties do not admit to any wrong doing, the award took place, and one could say "true justice" was served in the civil rights lawsuit.

This topic had many citizens fired up with anger, claiming "police brutality".

While the settlement will not bring the lost family member back, it will help ensure that Claudio's 7 year old daughter doesn't have to struggle as she lives life without her father.
