Amarillo Fire Department Phone Scam
The Amarillo Fired Department warns of a phone scam currently happening to Amarillo residents. A phone call comes in from an Austin, TX area code, soliciting money to support the AFD, and citizens are donating money. Do not donate money to this organization! The AFD says they won't see a penny!
"It has been brought to the attention of the Amarillo Fire Department (AFD) of recent attempts by telemarketers to solicit money in the name of Fire Fighters Association. Many of these calls are being made show an area code from the Austin area. The solicitors are asking for funds to support the Fire Department. The AFD does not solicit funds therefore the AFD will not be receiving any of the funds donated to this organization. The AFD operates from a budget that is funded by the city tax base."
