So over the weekend I went to my very first IMAX/3D movie at UA and I gotta say my expectations were not met, but neither was I let down.  I don't know if it's because I saw an "IMAX/3D" movie instead of just an "IMAX" movie, but it wasn't what I had expected.  We just recently got the IMAX theaters at UA here in Amarillo, so I had no previous experience to compare it to, just a painting in my mind that friends whom had seen IMAX movies before had painted for me.  Allow me to explain how I was kind of let down, yet very impressed all at the same time.

What I was expecting as I went into the theater to see Wrath of the Titans was I guess something like a planetarium, pretty much like what they have at the Discovery Center, because my friends basically told me the screen kind of surrounds you and you lie back in your seat almost as you look up to watch it.

But that's not what the theater I walked into looked like.

My best description of it is the screen is curved.  You know how older TV's had the curved screens?  Well picture the opposite curve of that, it curves away from you, and the screen is gigantic! But it's in the same spot as every other movie I've seen at the theater, it doesn't surround you above and your not lying back, looking up to watch it.

The sound is definitely top quality!  The surround sound set up equals to that of an earthquake!  You get every little piece of audio the movie offers, delivered the way it should be delivered!

The seats were almost like first class seats on a plane, just without the recliner, if anybody that works at UA is reading this, you guys need to add that, it would be awesome!

Anyways I watched the entire movie in IMAX/3D and even though my expectations of the theaters lay-out were not what I had in mind, it was definitely worth the $15 ticket!

IMAX/3D is a movie going experience like no other!  Delivering the best quality picture, the loudest and most crisp sound and the 3D is like no other!

I swear to you, there were times I would do something like pull my feet back, thinking rocks or fire was really coming at me!

It seemed like the characters were right there in the room with you!

I've seen 3D movies before, but they are absolute child's play when compared to IMAX/3D!

If you have not checked out an IMAX movie yet, you have no more excuses!  No longer do you have to drive to Lubbock for an IMAX theater, there's one right here in your backyard and it's absolutely worth it!

Oh yeah on a side note, Wrath of the Titans was a pretty kick ass movie!  If you watched Clash of the Titans, then you gotta check out the sequel!
