There's gonna be more Amarillo Police officers than usual on the streets of Amarillo during the national 2014 Click It Or Ticket campaign.  Monday, May 19th, through Sunday, June 1st, officers will be on patrol and looking for those not compliance with the seat belt and child restraint laws.

"Monday May 19th, through Sunday June 1st, 2014, the Amarillo Police Dept. will be participating in the national Click it or Ticket Campaign. The department received a grant from the Texas Department of Transportation that will fund extra officers during this period, assigned to patrol and concentrate efforts on enforcement of seat belt and child restraint laws. Numerous extra officers will be out to focus on these violations during this period and enforcement will be strict."

Texas law requires everyone, I mean EVERYONE, in a vehicle to wear a seat belt.  Front seat, back seat, no matter what seat, you are required by law to wear a seat belt.  Children eight (8) years of age or younger must be protected with a child safety seat or booster seat, unless they are taller than 4 ft. 9 inches.  Child seats must be used according to the instructions of the manufacturer.

So buckle up, save yourself from getting a ticket, and save your life!
