APD SWAT had to make a house call overnight to deal with a wanted suspect that locked himself inside his house, believed to have access to firearms  It was also believed that he had other people in the house with him, including a small child.  The suspect, Michael Fruit, has an outstanding warrant out of Potter County for Indecency with a Child.  The standoff began at 11:40pm Friday night, and ended Saturday morning at 6:50am with the suspect in custody and no harm to the child or female.

"On Friday October 11, at approximately 11:40pm, APD officers were checking a residence in the 7700 block of River Road for a wanted person. The wanted person has an outstanding warrant out of Potter Co for Indecency with a Child, a second degree felony.  As an officer was driving by the residence, he observed the wanted person standing on the front porch. The officer called out the person by name, and the suspect immediately went back into the house locking it behind him. The house was surrounded by officers to keep the suspect from leaving the residence. Officers attempted to make contact with the suspect but the suspect would not come to the door. At approximately 12:30am APD SWAT team was requested due to the believe that the suspect had access to firearms and that there were other people inside the house. APD Negotiators and additional support personnel were also called in to assist. Negotiators spent the next several hours attempting to communicate with the suspect. At 6:30am SWAT team entered the residence and began searching the residence. At 6:50am the subject was located in the basement of the house along with a small child and a female. The subject was taken into custody without any further incident. The suspect is identified as Michael Fruit W/M 34."

He was transported to Potter County where he was booked into jail on the outstanding warrant. The small child and female were not injured in the incident.
