Amarillo Man Shot While Trying To Break Up A Fight
Sometimes, being a good Samaritan can land you in a bad spot. I try to preach this to Tommy the Hacker, because he seriously thinks he works for the United Nations, and always tries to break up fights. This is my biggest fear when he does, the fear of him getting shot in the process. Like this guy, he was just trying to keep the peace, and received a gunshot wound in the process. An Amarillo man was shot for trying to be the good guy! That's not cool!
"On Wednesday, 7-23-14, at about 11:30 PM, officers were sent to 1223 S Roberts on a reported shooting. Officers located a HM on the southwest corner of the complex with a gunshot wound to his leg. The man was transported to a local hospital by ambulance. Investigation revealed a fight broke out in one of the apartments where a party was occurring. The victim attempted to break up the fight when he was shot."
The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived, and there is no information or description of the suspect available.
Thankfully, the victim's injury is not life-threatening, and the investigation is ongoing.
