It's a sad day when a teenager with so much life ahead of them gets arrested for something stupid.  Drug possession can often lead to a future of criminal activity.

As teenagers, we often do stupid things.  Why?  Well, I really don't know.  Maybe to fit in, be a rebel, or maybe because we feel we have no other choice.  Regardless, this teenager made a terrible decision.

Just after 3 a.m. on Sunday, the boy was found outside of Foxes on 3rd Ave.  The Amarillo police pulled him aside and found 11 marijuana blunts in the front waistband of his pants and two bags — one thought to have crack cocaine and another thought to be Ecstasy pills.

I find this story so sad.  Why on earth would he be at this club in the first place?  And secondly, what is he doing with his life?  Seventeen is too young to be getting arrested for any reason, and getting popped for drugs is even worse.

I feel that all kids no matter what background can make an honest life for themselves.  I would be mortified if my son was ever caught with drugs.  The teen is being charged with possession of a controlled substance between 4 and 200 grams, a first-degree felony, and possession of marijuana under 2 ounces, a class A misdemeanor.

Seventeen and has a pending felony.  Now I don't know what he was doing with all those drugs, but I find this to be a stupid decision.  Hopefully everything will work out for this young man and he can get his life back on track.

What is going on with our kids now a days?
