October 1st marks the one-year anniversary of the Las Vegas shooting that took place during the Route 91 Country music festival.

A total of 58 lost their lives that day and over 500 were injured. It seems like just yesterday the news broke of this horrific event. Amarillo sprung into action quickly by sending our trained professional therapy dogs to the victims family and those injured.

Dog Therapy has been proven to do wonders for people who are suffering a tragedy. They serve as a first responder, to remind the victims they are not alone.

In honor of the first anniversary of the Amarillo chapter of the American Medical Response, they decided that it would be a good idea to ship out our little furry comforters back to Las Vegas to help the ones affected by this tragedy.

Lauren Christie, AMR Senior Department Coordinator, shared with Myhighplains.com reporter Kylee Douglass:

"It will mean a lot because we were there last year right after the events and the tragedy. So it will mean just remembering what we did originally and then being able to bring those services back because I know that a lot of the personnel will have again flashbacks or those memories of that occurrence."
