Amarillo Ups The Police Force [POLL]
It’s all an effort to better patrol for impaired drivers, and other traffic violations, so if you’ve been “lucky” so far, it’s time to seriously start assigning a designated driver!
The $150,000 grant includes a 25 percent funding match from the City of Amarillo and will fund the extra patrols from Monday through September 2013, Davis said.
Davis also added that a recent survey showed about 88% of all drivers in Amarillo actually using their seat-belts. So not only will eyes be open for intoxicated drivers, but seat-belt violators as well.
20 traffic accidents have taken 25 lives this year alone in Amarillo. 9 were from drunk drivers, others involved speeding/reckless driving, 6 of the fatalities were not wearing a seat-belt.
