This morning, a 24 year old Amarillo woman lied to her boyfriend about being kidnapped, who in turned called the police like any good boyfriend should.  She was found with her hands tied, but claims she was not involved in a kidnapping?  That's not confusing...  Amarillo Police responded to the call at about 8:15am, a reported abduction at an apartment complex in south Amarillo.

Just after 9am, the Potter County Sheriff's Office responded on a report of a female with her hands tied showing up to a resident's door and requested help.  The house was located in the 7000 block of Navajo Road, and the woman with her hands tied was the one that sent her boyfriend the text.

So how is this a lie?  Check this out, the official report from APD says investigators and deputies spoke to the woman and the woman's initial report was that a Hispanic male wearing a camouflage jacket and armed with a handgun had forced her to get into her car on the apartment parking lot and drive him out to rural Potter County.  From there, a second man was parked in the road, apparently waiting on him in a small, maroon truck.  Then the two men were both out of the vehicles talking, while one tied her hands.  She reported she was able to escape and run into the brush and hide.  Investigators noticed inconsistencies in her account of what had happened.  After some conversation, the woman admitted that she had not been kidnapped and she was not the victim of any criminal activity.

Why would she do this?  Was this a cry for attention?  Was she doing something she shouldn't have been doing and attempting to cover it up and hide it from her boyfriend?  Did she develop Stockholm syndrome where hostages develop feelings for their captors?

Detectives are continuing to investigate to establish why the woman reported the criminal incident."
