A reported kidnapping had police officers sent to the 600 block of north Hayes in Canyon after a female caller reported that the biological father of her 9 month old child had been kidnapped.  The man allegedly broke into her house and stole the baby by ripping the child right out of the mother's arms and leaving with the child.

Soon after, police caught up to the suspect and he was booked into the Potter County Detention Center on a charge that wasn't even related to the kidnapping of the child.

Reason being, he is the biological father and has legal access to the child.  I'll let the report that the Amarillo Police Department sent out explain it a little better.

"On 4-4-13, at about 11:05 AM, officers were sent to an apartment in the 600 block of N. Hayes on a reported kidnapping. The female caller told officers that a male, the biological father of her 9-month old child, had broken in through the front door of the apartment. He entered the apartment and took the child from her arms. He left with the child. The woman described threatening texts that he sent before forcing his way into the home. Officers developed information on the man’s location.
Officers located the suspect, a black male age 34, when he drove up to a home in Canyon. The man had already placed the 9-month old with an acquaintance at that home. The child was safe and not injured. The male was interviewed and officers confirmed that he is the child's biological father and has legal access to the child. Circumstances surrounding removal of the child from the home are still under investigation. The man was booked into the Potter County Detention Center on a charge that was not related to today’s event."

Investigators are reviewing evidence in this case, but have filed no formal charges at this time for kidnapping the child.  Granted, he is the biological father, but to break into the house of the mother that gave birth to your child and rip your 9 month old out of mother's arms and just basically steal the child, that ain't cool right there if you ask me!
