Amarillo Police have made an arrest for a homicide that took place over the weekend at 4530 Maverick, apartment 215D in Amarillo.  1 Man was arrested, 1 woman was seriously injured, and another man was murdered.  The motive is unknown at this time.  Joseph Keith Hayes was taken into custody for murder and for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

"On 2-15-14, officers were dispatched to 4530 Maverick, apartment 215D, on a report of a woman who was bleeding. It was reported the suspect was still present at the scene. When officers arrived the suspect was not present, but there were two victims.

Officers found a female victim with what appeared to be lacerations. Officers also found a man who was deceased inside the apartment from what appeared to be lacerations. The female victim was transported to a local hospital for her injuries. She was eventually transferred to a medical facility in Lubbock.

Officers located the suspect at a house near Amarillo Blvd. and McMasters and took him into custody. He was identified as Joseph Keith Hayes, WM, age 33. Hayes was booked into the Potter County Correction Center for Murder and Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon against a family member.

The homicide victim was identified as Nathaniel Wayne Miller, WM, age 30. An autopsy is scheduled sometime in the next few days in Lubbock. Preliminary results will be released when available.

Special Crimes continues to investigate this homicide and asks anyone with any information about the case to call 378-9468."
