‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ Spot: The Hits Keep Coming
The Guardians of the Galaxy are heroes, but that doesn’t mean the rest of the galaxy isn‘t out to get them. Like, all the time. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 sees our favorite spacefaring miscreants go up against an evil golden woman, Peter Quill’s former allies the ravagers, and a giant tentacle beast, amongst probably a host of other things. As the new TV spot says: the hits keep coming.
Johnny Depp Is ‘King of the Jungle’ in a Film About the Crazy Story of John McAfee
There are good celebrity profiles, and then there are the ones that merit their own movies. In 2012, former antivirus software magnate John McAfee took Wired reporter Joshua Davis on a weird, darkly hilarious trip around his Belize compound while he was a person of interest in the Belizean investigation of an American expatriate’s murder. Who else could play him in a movie but certified weirdo Johnny Depp?
Vin Diesel Says ‘The Fate of the Furious’ Is Going to Launch a New Trilogy
With the eighth on the way and two more planned sequels after that, it seems like the Fast & Furious franchise will never end. And you know what, if Vin Diesel, The Rock, and Jason Statham want to keep making movies where the good guys win by driving quickly and angrily, more power to them! Diesel himself revealed during CinemaCon on Wednesday, after an emotional tribute to the late Paul Walker, that The Fate of the Furious is the first in a new trilogy of films.
‘The Fate of the Furious’ May Be an Epic 160 Minutes Long
It seems like every big blockbuster movie these days is getting longer and longer. Sometimes that’s a good thing, if a movie requires a lot of time to pace out its story, but sometimes a longer running time just means there’s more time for the movie to run itself into the ground. If a new report is true, the next Fast & Furious movie won’t be very fast at all — in fact, it’ll take almost three hours to watch.
Get Ready for a New ‘Purge’ Movie Coming Summer 2018
Even though the story was more or less wrapped up at the end of The Purge: Election Year, we should probably get used to these movies, much like the Purge itself, happening about once a year. James DeMonaco, creator of the franchise and director of all three, will be back writing the screenplay and working closely with Universal to find a director for the fourth.
Watch the Recently Unearthed, Completely Improvised Audition Tapes for ‘Paranormal Activity’
Found-footage horror has always been pretty hit-or-miss: for every Blair Witch Project there’s a Last Exorcism. Most of the time, it’s the low-budget efforts that succeed in utilizing the style’s greatest strengths, so it’s not surprising that Paranormal Activity, made on a budget of $15,000, became a global phenomenon. The sequels are what they are, but the first movie is still chilling to this day, in part because of its two leads, who act in such a way that it’s easy to believe it’s all real.
‘Britney Ever After’ Teaser: Sometimes You Get So Famous You Have to Shave Your Head
There’s only one thing weirder than a biopic about an artist who’s still alive, and that’s a biopic about an artist who’s still alive and wants nothing to do with said biopic and has in fact disowned it completely. That’s Britney Ever After, Lifetime’s (naturally) drama about pop artist Britney Spears’ career and fall to “rock bottom.”
Well, Patrick Stewart Is Gonna Voice the Poop Emoji for ‘The Emoji Movie,’ Maya Rudolph Also Cast
Studios these days knows no bounds when it comes to anthropomorphizing inanimate objects. The objects in The Emoji Movie aren’t even real — merely code-based pictograms that live on the surface of your phone screen. But that won’t stop Sony, determined to make you feel emotions for the very things meant to stand in for emotions in the first place...
Pennywise Floats Awkwardly Inside a Sewer Pipe in a New ‘It’ Remake Image
’Tis the season for images of movies that none of us will be able to see until months from now! The latest was a kind of Christmas present from the folks over at the remake of Stephen King’s It, but unfortunately it’s more awkward than scary. The image shows Pennywise — who else? — lurking inside a larger-than-life sewer pipe, seemingly floating somehow above the ground.
New ‘Patriots Day’ Trailer: Bostonians ‘Will Not Be Beaten Down’
When making a movie about any real historical tragedy, especially if it’s recent, there’s an onus on the people behind the project to be true to the material. No one in Hollywood, save for maybe the Afflecks, loves Boston more than Mark Wahlberg, and he’s said before that his prime concern with making Patriots Day, a drama about the Boston Marathon bombings, is “getting it right.” A new trailer before this week’s release of the film hammers that point home even further, with footage from the movie intercut with statements from the real people who were there that day.
Samuel L. Jackson Has Had His First ‘Incredibles 2’ Recording Session
Frozone is officially back for The Incredibles 2, which is good news for, like, everyone. Be honest: you and your friend have definitely quoted the “Where’s my super suit?” scene at each other at least once. Frozone’s voice, otherwise known as Samuel L. Jackson, is pretty excited, as he shared a photo of his first recording session for the sequel on his Instagram last night.
The International ‘Ghost in the Shell’ Trailer Features the Major Bringing the Pain
Paramount has rolled out a new international trailer for Scarlett Johansson’s live-action Ghost in the Shell, which is faster-paced and shorter than the first one we got early last month. There isn’t a whole lot of new footage in this aside from a few second-long shots, but we see the Major and her partner Batou in action again, and less of those scary-looking spider leg people.
