During a set at Amsterdam's Kingsland Festival over the weekend, Dutch DJ Nicky Romero dedicated a new song to Avicii, aptly titled "Heaven." A fan in the crowd recorded the performance, and the track seems to also include vocals from Coldplay's Chris Martin. It's cheery, upbeat and melodic, and sounds like signature Avicii.

As Billboard reported on Monday (April 30), Romero revealed he and the late DJ/producer had still been sharing files when he tragically and unexpectedly died on April 20. The last time they interacted was a month before the 28-year-old's untimely death. The two had collaborated before, on 2013's "I Could Be the One," and Romero must have felt inspired to finish the track without his friend.

As more information has been revealed concerning Avicii's death, it sounds as though the cause was suicide, although that has not yet been verified. In a recent statement, his family wrote that he "really struggled with thoughts about meaning, life and happiness" and that "he could not go on any longer. He wanted to find peace." His girlfriend, Tereza Kačerová, also wrote an extensive open letter to her lost love, seeming as shocked and confused as the public about his passing.

“I’ve spent the last days waiting to wake up, waiting for someone to tell me that this is some sick joke, some awful mistake,” she wrote. “I think it’s finally settling on me now that I will truly never get to see you again.”
