Beto has been making stops all over Texas rallying support in his bid for U.S. Senate. Tonight, Beto's mom is going to be making a stop in Amarillo.

According to a press release:

U.S. Senate candidate Beto O’Rourke’s mother, Melissa O’Rourke, will host a public meet and greet in Amarillo on Wednesday. It’s the latest stop in her drive across the state as Beto returns to Washington to continue serving the people of El Paso. Melissa O’Rourke, a lifelong Republican, will advance the open dialogue that the Congressman has led with Republicans, Democrats, independents and non-voters alike all across the state over the past 16 months. The event is public and OPEN to the press:

Wednesday, September 5 at 7 PM CT
The Bowery
100 S. Lincoln St., Amarillo, TX 79101

This will not be the first time Melissa joined her son on the campaign trail. She previously appeared with him in February, driving the campaign van from one stop to the next. The trip caught the attention of the Wall Street Journal, who acknowledged their bipartisan travels by writing, “At last, the nation’s political polarization may have met its match”.

Melissa’s meet and greets come only a week after Beto’s 6,803 mile, 34-day drive across the state where he held nearly 100 events in more than 50 communities. He has already visited each one of the 254 counties of Texas. The Congressman’s mother will return to many of the communities he visited in August as she holds nearly 25 events across the state. Following Wednesday’s event, she will continue to Vega, Channing, and Borger.

The visits follow Beto O’Rourke’s announcement that his grassroots campaign raised more than $10.4 million in the second quarter of 2018 without taking a dime from PACs or special interests. This was more than two times what Ted Cruz raised in the same period. While bringing in more than 215,000 contributions, O’Rourke has now outraised Cruz in five FEC reporting periods. Four August polls also show a single digit race. The Texas Lyceum poll found O’Rourke within two points of Cruz.
