A woman out of Canadian, TX was sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to kidnapping a 2 week old baby girl and murdering the mother of the child.  After a posting on Facebook, she contacted the mother and promised free baby clothes, crib and other baby items, and lured the mother into a horrific incident that left a family grieving.

Adriana Lisa Perez met up with Leslie Perez, not related, where Adriana stabbed the innocent mother multiple times and took the infant girl.  Though the baby was unharmed, the stabbing took the victims life.

A neighbor had seen a vehicle in the yard earlier that morning, and the description given led investigators to Perez, found in the neighboring county.  Perez had traveled from Canadian to Shamrock, TX, going to evil lengths and ripping a family apart after such a joyful moment in their lives.

Yesterday, Perez plead guilty to capital murder in a plea deal taking life in prison without parole for the December 2013 incident.

As a father, I simply can not imagine the terror felt.  My son is my only child and the only child I plan to have and I would sacrifice everything for his safety.  I would like to think most parents would, but this scares me into wanting to pull his pictures off my Facebook profile.

As a parent, at least for me, I've learned the true meaning of unconditional love.  A love that can never be broken, no matter what mistakes my son makes he will always have my heart without questioning.  Proud of him, I love to show him off because he is such a good looking kid I can't help but brag.  I see so many parents do it, his mom is also very proud of our beautiful creation, uncles and aunts...in most cases you have several family members posting pictures of children out of pure pride and love.

Does showing the world something so precious put our children at risk?  Does putting pictures on Facebook of our children make them a target of kidnapping?

The thought had never crossed my mind, I can't imagine someone being so evil, but it's looking me right in the face and has me wondering.  Would someone commit this act in order to get my child?  Do we as parents/family put risk out there by posting pictures?

I realize these incidents have taken place long before Facebook, but does social media make finding targets easier?

I pray for the family to be strong for the child, and I find myself praying for my own child as well in light of this story.
