September 11, 2001 is a day that everyone will remember.  So much loss, hurt, and love was robbed from the United States.  Nearly 3000 people lost their lives that day.

With all the tragic, horrifying, uplifting, and amazing stories that have been shared over the years about 9/11, many celebrities have some pretty awesome stories to tell.

Recently, Gwyneth Paltrow has been sharing a story of how she saved a woman's life by mere coincidence.  The story is that on the morning of 9/11, Paltrow was on her way to a yoga class when a jaywalker decided to step in front of her car.  The two played an awkward game of stop-start before going their separate ways.  The lady, who recognized Paltrow, later wrote her a letter stating that she was late for work and because of the stop-start game they played, she missed her train.  If she would have made the train she would have been sitting at her desk when the first plane hit.  So the actress did inadvertently save her life.

Mark Wahlberg is another actor who has a story to share.  Marky Mark had actually booked a seat on Flight 93.  But he decided to leave Boston a week earlier to visit a friend in Toronto.  He credits his friend for saving his life.

And we have all probably heard Seth MacFarlane's story.  The 'Family Guy' creator was booked on Flight 11, but according to him two things stopped him from boarding the plane.  No not a gut instinct.  His travel agent wrote down the wrong departure time, and he was hung over.  MacFarlane missed his plane by 10 minutes.  He later joked that "Yeah, alcohol is our friend.  I think that's the moral of the story.'

Maybe you don't believe in fate, destiny or even luck but something happened.  So many small instances have changed the outcome of our future.  If Gwyneth Paltrow skipped yoga that morning or if Seth MacFarlane hadn't drank the night before, two more lives would have been lost.

This Sunday marks the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.  While New York will be holding a very special tribute, Amarillo will also be honoring those who not only lost their lives, but those who have fought and continue to fight for us.

The Amarillo Corvette Club will be hosting a "We Remember 9-11 Event" this Sunday at Westgate Chevrolet, I-40 and Coulter at 12:30pm.  They will be honoring all public servants and military.

The city of Amarillo will also hold a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony on Sunday at 8:30 am.  It will be held at City Hall, 509 SE 7th.  The Fire Department, Police Department, and all public safety agencies will be honored.
