Being a celebrity comes at a price.  Once you decide or in rare cases are pushed into the spotlight, you lose lots of things including your privacy.  Everything you do is on the news, in the tabloids, or posted online.  But when should a celebrities life be kept private?  When they are going through a divorce?

There are lots of instances, in my opinion, when a celebrities privacy should be respected.  Divorce, definitely one of them.  The problems going on is between a husband and wife, no one else.  However, I truly believe that being a celebrity puts pressure on a marriage.

Everything a celebrity does is reported on.  Lindsay Lohan is in rehab for substance abuse.  Ok. Leave her alone and let her get better.  We do not need to know everything she does every minute of the day.  Michael Douglas is battling cancer.  That's sad, but we should respect the family's privacy and hope he gets better.  So and so was having dinner with so and so, is there romance?  What?  Really?  This is exactly how rumors begin.

Once your name and character is trashed over and over, the stigma is there so why not do it.  In the case of Eva Longoria and Tony Parker, speculation began and did not stop until the divorce was confirmed.  Would they have worked it out if there marriage wasn't all over the tabloids?  We will never know because the media didn't give them a chance.

Yes, celebrities throw themselves into the spotlight, but when is it too much.  They are people just like us and don't they deserve a little privacy?
