A tractor/trailer parked near I-40 and Western in Amarillo leaked chemicals that are only described as a "corrosive liquid" and has been causing delays since around 10:30am.  While east bound lanes on I-40 are back open, there are some closures you need to be aware of before you head out!

"APD advises 2 lanes of west bound I-40 from Georgia to Western are now open. Access road near Western Street remains closed. On and off ramps remain closed crews will still be at the scene for approximately two more hours.

Drivers should be aware that traffic has slowed or stopped for the chemical spill at IH40 and Western, extending back to the interchange.  On-scene supervisors also report that the traffic directed off the Interstate is slowing traffic flow near intersections of the access roads and the following streets:  Wolflin/Paramount, Georgia, and Western.  Please avoid driving in those areas as emergency responders continue to work."
