Have you heard of Jordan's Law?  The law was proposed after the story of Jordan Bleimeyer was released, the 5 year old that was locked in a closet under the stairs, found weighing only 29 pounds.  You would think the proposed Jordan's Law would be a good thing after hearing his story, but citizens see a problem with it, and have started a petition.

Jordan's Law states a proposition to change laws of child abuse victims.  The law would hold the person or persons responsible for the care and protection of children.  Added, the person or persons convicted of physical child abuse, would automatically be facing an attempted murder charge.  Also, state agencies responsible for the protection and overseeing of a child's well being would face charges in the event they are found to have failed to protect the child or children of abuse.

"Too many children are suffering at the hands of their own parents, caretakers, people they trust to keep them safe are too often the ones who abuse the child. In Jordan Bleimeyer's case, he was forced to sleep and live in a room under the stairs, he was starved, beat and neglected. So severely abused that he has to be hospitalized for over a month at least. Children's Protective Services in Texas stated they visited the child on February 20, 2014 and that he was in no harm and everything was okay. I believe if state agencies are no longer granted immunity in their position of authority of the protection of children, there would be far less mistakes made when deciding the safety and well being of a child."

Why are people petitioning this?  Are the charges suggested to severe?  Should Child Protective Services not be held liable for the well being of a child they failed to protect?  Should parents/guardians not be held liable if a child in their care is abused?  I am just a meager radio DJ, so I leave it up to you, what do YOU think?
