I don't own an iPhone, more of an Android kinda person, but my wife does and it's now spilled my blood!  Be warned!  These phones can cause harm to you!  Before I even start, I want to make it clear that this is NOT an attack on Apple, I'm just giving you personal experience of what happened to me.

I'm a pretty reasonable person, and I rely more on street smarts rather than book smarts.  So when this happened to me, it actually shocked me big time.

My wife dropped her iPhone 4 while getting out of the car the other day.  It's a pretty common thing, I've dropped mine several times, but I've never been injured picking up a dropped cell phone, that is up until recently.

As I bent over and picked up the phone, I felt a sharp pain in my finger, so I immediately looked at my finger and saw 2 shards of what appeared to be plastic sticking out of my finger.  I thought maybe it was something from the driveway, but still didn't know what had just happened.

Well I then turned the phone over to look at the back of it as that was part of the phone that hit the ground.  It was shattered, but I still didn't get it.  I'm thinking to myself "the way this plastic shattered is just amazing".  Then, I rubbed my finger across it and it sliced my finger open!

It then hit me, this is glass!

I'm now just baffled, it just blows my mind that they would basically encase a cell phone, one of the most commonly dropped items in the world, in glass!  But, alas, they did.

Why would they do that?  Encase a device that you put up to your face in glass?

I realize there are cases and protection options out there, but we don't all have them on our phones.

I also realize it's common sense to NOT touch broken glass, but I had no idea this thing was glass both front and back!  I guess I should start reading the fine print.

Anyways I called to find out what options we had to replace the phone, and there are no options.  They may as well have called me stupid and told me to go away.  They offered me a new phone for about $160.  Sure big savings, considering I paid $738 for this phone new, but this just blows my mind that I suffered a cut, spilled blood, and Apple really doesn't care.

I'm not here to diss Apple, they have some brilliant minds designing their products and I may just be venting here, but you would think they wouldn't have put glass on both front and back, because phones are so commonly dropped, and even though they "encourage" users not to use "broken phones", you still gotta pick it up right?

I realize I sliced open my finger on my own dumb accord, but what about the 2 shards of glass I had to pull out of my finger?  Those stuck me just when I picked the phone up!  What was I supposed to do, leave it on the ground?

Anyways, I'm looking for advice here, what do I do now?

We pay for insurance on the phone, but my wife gets the run around every time she calls to get it replaced.

Long story short, I cut my hand on an iPhone 4, and we can't even get it replaced.

Oh and you wouldn't believe the questions they asked me when we were talking about it!

Did fumes emit from the phone?

Yeah that was one of the questions, scary!

Thankfully it didn't, because would probably be in the hospital if it had.

What would you do in my situation?  I'm lost for words, I don't like being mean so I can't yell at the person I talked to on the phone, but at the same time, I can't get anything done either!

If you were me, how would you proceed?  Please, share your thoughts and opinions because I really need them now.

I'm not a sue-happy person, I'm not out to make a buck off them, and it is just a tiny little boo boo that's more of an inconvenience.  But I really feel like they should replace the phone.

Any ideas on what I can do?

Please just leave comments below.
