Since Beyonce announced that she and hubby Jay-Z were expecting, all kinds of rumors have surfaced about her cravings.  So it made me think, do pregnant women really have weird cravings or do they just use pregnancy as an excuse to eat any and everything they see.

We have all been there before, celebrities get pregnant and then they start eating all kinds of crazy things.  Britney Spears "craved" dirt.  Really?  And since Beyonce made her big announcement, she has reportedly been craving things like bananas dipped in ketchup and ice cream with hot chili sauce.  And even more recently, the Jessica Simpson pregnancy rumors have revealed some interesting cravings.  She likes to eat nacho chips dipped in chocolate and wash it down non-alcoholic margaritas.

Of course I am no expert, but I have had a child.  During my pregnancy I can honestly say I experienced no kind of cravings.  Nothing weird, nothing at all.  Now there were some days when I felt like eating a little more food than normal but that's as far as it went.

In my opinion, I think pregnant women use their pregnancy as an excuse to eat anything and everything they want.  They won't be judged for eating Oreo cookies dipped in nacho cheese, so why not do it?  I understand that they are eating for two, but don't lie and say you are craving it.  I'm sure if you just asked your baby's daddy for it, he would gladly give it to you, no judgment.

I am not saying there is no such thing as a craving, because there is.  If your body is lacking in nutrients, your body will crave them. But as far as pregnancy cravings of weird and disgusting foods, I don't believe it.  And pregnant or not, bananas dipped in ketchup makes me want to throw up!

So what do you think?  Do pregnant women really crave food, or is it just an excuse to eat everything?
