The success of Drake's Views continues. The Toronto native's latest album has officially been certified triple platinum by the RIAA. Drake is the first artist to sell three million copies of an album in 2016.

The changes made to the RIAA's platinum and gold program clearly helped Drake's Views achieve triple platinum status so quickly. The new methodology employed by the RIAA sees 1,500 on-demand video or audio streams counted as an equivalent to one physical album sale and 100 to 150 streams counted as an equivalent to a single track download. A little over month after LP's April release, Views had already been streamed a billion times.

Despite some mixed reviews for Views, Drake's album proved to be a huge hit. The enduring popularity of singles "One Dance" and "Controlla" played a key role in the album's sustained performance. The project's success helped Drizzy land 14 nominations for the 2016 BET Hip Hop Awards. It also inspired him to create a movie called "Please Forgive Me" in the near future.

Drake has continued to remain a constant conversation piece thanks to his Summer Sixteen Tour. The OVO Sound founder shocked fans by bringing out Eminem at a recent show in Detroit. The moment was particularly surprising since Hot 97's Ebro Darden had thrown out a rumor of Eminem possibly dissing Drake. Slim Shady's connection to Joe Budden, who has his own beef with Drake, also made the concert appearance an unexpected development.
