This just announced that the Center City of Amarillo has canceled its annual Electric Light Parade.

The parade has been canceled due to sub-freezing temperatures scheduled to hit later this week! This would have been the 18th annual parade that usually draws thousands of people to downtown to bring in the Christmas spirit. Center City Executive Director Beth Duke spoke to AGN and said:

“We felt it wouldn’t be safe for families to come downtown,” she said, citing the likelihood of ice forming on Amarillo roads. “As far as I know we’ve never had to cancel the parade).”

We don't know if the parade will be rescheduled but we will keep you updated!

****UPDATE****

The parade will not be rescheduled!
