You've got to really be proud of hip-hop these days for the way mainstream rappers are involving themselves in social and political issues. Plus, they're encouraging young folks to get involved in their communities and not just stand on the sidelines.

For example, both Pusha T and Jay Z have attempted to rally young people to vote in this presidential election., T.I. appropriately blasted Lil Wayne for his foolish remarks about Black Lives Matter and has become a big supporter of the movement and now Gucci Mane is telling people to vote as well.

On Monday (Nov. 7), at Florida Memorial University, Guwop encouraged the students to use their voice in this presidential election and to understand that they have the power to contribute to positive change.

"Young people have an opportunity to make a big impact tomorrow," said Gucci standing behind a podium. "And not just any young people. Young people in this room, young people of color, young people who come from neighborhoods surrounding this college."

"Tomorrow you need to get out and vote and vote not because I'm telling you to or not because anybody else is telling you to but vote because this is about ya'll future."

The Everybody Looking rapper then talked about the issues that are closest to him and noted that he isn't able to vote because he's a convicted felon. Gucci also told the audience that their vote will also serve as his own.

"We need to make a vote to stop all this police brutality. We need to make a vote to stop all this mass incarceration," said Gucci. "All these issues are not just personal to you and your families, they impact me. I wish that I had my right to vote. Don't punish me the rest of my life for something that I already did my time for so for all of you, I want you to know, ya'll vote count for me."
