Stranger danger is still a serious thing. For the times your kids aren't with you, this is a trick that can keep them safe.

If your child goes to a summer day care program, there might be a time you cannot get there to pick your child up. You might have a friend or co-worker pick them up for you. But how does your child know this person was sent by you. If it's someone your child has never meant before they might get scared. Here's a trick that was taught to me when I was a kid and I now taught my son.

We use a "code word". If someone is picking up your child and they have never meant your child before, they need to know the "code word". This is a word that only the child and the parents would know.

If someone is trying to pick up your child and they do not know the correct word, tell your child to run and look for help.
