How To Help Local Wildfire Victims and Local Firefighters

Amarillo Fire Department
Amarillo Fire Department

With all the devastation that has happened over the past few days the community has been asking how they can help.  There are several ways and we have all the information for you.

As a mom, my first instinct is to want to feed and nourish these brave men that our out there fighting these fires.  Our media partner KAMR talked to Potter County sheriff Brian Thomas and said that food is not a need at this moment.  But there are needs all across the Panhandle.

Hansford County 4-H is gathering supplies for firefighters.  They need ready to eat snacks, water and gatorade.  You can drop donations off at the Spearman City Hall, 30 Southwest CT between 9-5pm.

Lipscomb county is looking for nonperishable food items and water or Gatorade.  You can drop off your donations at the fire station in Higgins on Highway 60, or at the Lipscomb county Sheriff’s Office or Courthouse.

In Canadian, the First Presbyterian Church is collecting donations to provide hygiene kits to evacuees.

In Gray county is accepting nonperishable food items like ready to eat items and water and Gatorade for first responders.   You can take your donations to the First Assembly of God Church on 500 S. Cuyler St. in Pampa.

A local veterinarian is going to be in Higgins on Thursday, March 9, 2017, to provide burn treatment for animals. Those services are first to come, first served. There has not been a place designated for those services, but we will keep you updated as we get information.

So many animals have been affected that the Texas A & M Agrilife Extension Office has set up two animal supply points to aid cattlemen in the area.  They are looking for all kinds of donations to help as much as they can.

There is a huge need for feed and hay, but they also need fencing and medical supplies.  The location to help ranchers in South Roberts and Gray counties is the Clyde Curuth Expo in Pampa.  The location to help Roberts, Ochiltree,Hemphill and Lipscomb counties is at 202 West Main in Lipscomb.

Relief funds are being set up and we will keep you up to date as we get that information.

And of course, prayers are always appreciated.  So if you can, take a few minutes out of your day and pray for our firefighters and everyone affected by these wildfires.
