Amarillo Kids Paint ‘Historic Cadillac Ranch’ Rainbow Colors To Celebrate Gay Pride
A group of Amarillo kids woke up early this morning and spray painted all the cars in a multi-colored rainbow to celebrated Gay Pride. One of the members had this to say:
‘It was still dark when we got there (we wanted to be done before the haters had a chance to get organized), the ground was muddy, and the wind blew the spray-paint back into our faces, but we had a blast!’
I have no idea how long the Cadillacs will stay these colors. Cadillac Ranch and Historic Route 66 are tourist attractions and draw thousands of people each day. It is a bit of a tradition that people who visit Cadillac Ranch generally spray paint their names on the cars.
I happen to know some of the individuals who took part in this and it’s great to see that they are not afraid to express their feelings about such a hot topic.
In many cities they have celebrations or parades for Gay Pride Week. I know in Denver they have a huge parade and festival downtown and draws thousands of people to the event.
