Well, maybe not quite. An AOL hygiene poll reveals that 22% of Americans wear dirty underwear on a regular basis. Read on for other findings.

- 30% of people do not shower on a regular basis

- 20% of people bathe or shower every other day

- 71% of people pick their nose on a regular basis

- 2% of people do NOT wash their hands on a regular basis

So what are the consequences of bad hygiene (other than being shunned by society)?

According to livestrong.com, the effects could range from social issues to diseases.

Here are some of the more common hygiene problems:

Body Odor.  Bacteria thrive in unwashed sweat. That's what causes the odor.

Bad Breath.  Bad breath results because of two main reasons. First, bacteria thrive on particles of food that can stick to your teeth. As the bacteria digest this food, their byproduct results in odor. Food can also get stuck in your teeth and rot over time, producing a foul odor, according to the American Dental Association.  This could lead to dental disease.

Disease. If you don't wash your hands, you're setting yourself up for getting sick.  Diseases range from common cold to Hepatitis A.

I'm addicted to hand sanitizer. Get yourself a big bottle and wear deodorant!!!
