Is Jennifer Lopez‘s former personal driver a victim of abuse from J. Lo and her manager, or is he a disgruntled employee trying to settle a score? Hakob Manoukian, who drove Lopez starting 2005, is suing the singer and manager Benny Medina for breach of contract.

According to E! News, the Iraq-born driver said in court documents he was verbally abused and demoted without cause. Manoukian, who began driving Lopez and Marc Anthony in 2005 before becoming Lopez’s full-time chauffeur in April 2011, claimed he was denied meal breaks and was not paid for overtime. Though his base salary was $72,000, he had expected “production pay” to push his income to around $200,000.

He said that when Lopez was filming ‘What to Expect When You’re Expecting’ in 2011, Medina “chastised and humiliated” him, telling him he didn’t speak English well enough and that he never should have been hired in the first place. After he complained about Medina, Manoukian was allegedly limited to driving Lopez in Los Angeles only.

The driver is seeking unspecified damages. Lopez has not yet commented on the matter, but Medina responded by telling TMZ that Manoukian was a “disgruntled employee who chose to quit.”
