Smith was injured while working an accident last month.

The Potter County Sheriff's Office and Fire Department are hosting a 'Burger Benefit' for Sgt. C. Smith, a member of the Sheriff's Office. The event will take place on July 8th from 11:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Potter County Sheriff's Office.

Plates will be $6 and you'll get burgers, hot dogs, chips, and a drink.

Smith was called out to a wreck in Hartley County to direct traffic on June 22nd. He was driving on Tascosa Road and attempted a U-turn when he was struck by a tractor-trailer drive by Robert Hartman of Galveston.

Although Smith's injuries were determined to be non-life threatening, he was airlifted to Lubbock for treatment. Hartman was not injured in the accident.

The 'Burger Benefit' will directly benefit Smith in this time of need.

The address for the sheriff's office is 608 South Pierce Street and they will be meeting in the south parking lot.
