Amazon has launched a digital music service and new cloud storage, to compete with iTunes.  And to kick the competition off, Amazon offered a deal that could not be passed up.

Tuesday, Lady Gaga released her new album "Born This Way" and Amazon decided to use it lure customers over.  As a promotion, Amazon offered the full album for $0.99.  What an awesome promotion, right?

Well that is exactly what all of the Little Monsters thought.  The news of the deal spread and fans rushed to buy the CD.  So many fans in fact that Amazon's website crashed.  People were unable to download the album and it took others up to six hours to get it.

Amazon did promise each and every person that tried to buy it to honor the $0.99 deal.  But what happened?  Was Amazon not prepared for that amount of traffic?  Or was there just way to many people?

Not sure.  Amazon refused to comment on the problems or report on the amount of sales.  I do know this, though.  People will flock to low prices, especially on an artist as popular as Gaga, but all the technology glitches will definitely make them run away.

Here is some advice for Amazon:  Step up your game.  Up your server capacity and increase bandwidth before offering a deal like this!
