Well, now we all know why Beyonce drove the getaway car in Lady Gaga's 2010 video for "Telephone": the pop star didn't have a driver's license. Duh!

As of Friday (July 1), Gaga can officially drive as free as her hair, as the 30-year-old singer-songwriter finally earned her license to drive after years of rolling with a learner's permit and "an adult present," as she put it so cheekily on Instagram.

"Thelma and Puhleaaaze," the star captioned a photo on the social media site yesterday, which shows her behind the steering wheel while in the car with a friend.

"Rollin' [with] the homies," she added.

Gaga's journey to learn how to operate a vehicle has been a long and winding road, with the performer sharing that she was "learning to drive" all the way back in 2012 with a tweet aimed at paparazzi who were, at the time, harassing her during driving lessons.

In addition to the photo she shared on Friday, the pop star unveiled two more pictures in celebration of her latest achievement on Instagram, one hilariously taken at the moment she passed her driving exam at the DMV.

See below as Gaga gets down on her hands and knees to thank and praise capital H-i-m — and keep an eye open for the "Highway Unicorn" when you're out on the road. You never know when Mother Monster may pull up next to you at a red light!
