Local MMA Shark Fights Owner Shot And Killed Over The Weekend
Amarillo resident Jim Larsen was shot and killed over the weekend. Officers arrived around 1 a.m. to the 8200 block of Progress to find two men shot. Jim was sent to the hospital and later on that morning passed away. Jim was a friend of me and Dallas Chambers. He was also one of the founders of Shark Fights and brought many MMA fights to Amarillo. Jim in one of the last Shark fights dedicated the event to his wife Sheila Gonzales who passed away in 2009 to a battle of cancer. Jim was well known in Amarillo and a great father to his four daughters, Paige Larsen, Brecken Larsen, Jade Larsen and Carys Larsen. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Southwest Baptist Church. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Our prayers are with the Larsen family.
