Before the fire in Fritch was 40% contained, Borger Animal Control had already made they way into the area, risking life and limb to find family pets.  After spending exhausting hours, suffering burns go their necks and more, several animals have been located.

Animals are being housed at three different locations in Borger, including High Plains Animal Shelter, Hoochy Poochy Grooming Parlor and at the Borger Animal Control.

“Animals have the most unique intuition to know when there’s something dangerous near them. They know to run away,” said Moore. “We’ve had a report of one horse being as far as Stinnett and some of these dogs, we’ve been picking them up here in Borger.”

Animals are still being located, and posted on the Fritch Fire Displaced Animals Facebook page.  Pet owners can check the page for their missing pets, and post to the page about the pets they are missing.
