Lucy Hale and her gorgeous ‘Pretty Little Liars’ costars suited up for a sexy GQ photo shoot featuring lots of bikinis and heels. Ooh la la! But there’s been some controversy surrounding the poolside shoot, and Lucy Hale has shared her thoughts.

The actress-turned-singer opened up to E! News on the recent shoot. “Great photographer, love the girls, love the photos. We had a really good time,” she gushed.

Yet the photos have been overshadowed by online controversy. Fans turned to social media to express their unhappiness over the PLL girls looking overly Photoshopped and airbrushed.

Lucy’s costar Troian Bellisario took to Instagram to share her frustrations on the shoot’s backlash. She shared a few unedited photos from GQ along with a lengthy rant. She wrote, "So by now you have seen many a shot from #GQ and many people have said that we were photoshopped… OF COURSE WE WERE! That’s a very specific type of photo shoot. And looking very blown out and perfected was obviously what they were looking for. Great. Cool. As long as we acknowledge how it was achieved so we know it’s not real."

When asked about the controversy, Lucy wasn’t too caught up on the subject. “I don’t know, I just stay out of all of that,” she laughed.

“I think it is pretty common,” she added on the prevalence of Photoshop use in media. “It’s good that people know that that is normal. I mean, people meet me in person, they know what I look like. As long as people know that that’s not real … It’s GQ. We don’t look that pin-up-y.”
