Road rage comes and goes, and it can get way out of hand.  Something as simple as forgetting your blinker can aggravate someone to their boiling point.  I've been warned of a male subject, driving a black GMC Yukon, out releasing his road rage on everyone in Amarillo, even a pregnant woman.  Also, ironically on a separate occasion, the pregnant woman's mother!  What do you do when someone is trying to take out their rage on you?  How do you stop it from escalating into a situation you don't want any part of?

First, let's take a look at the story I received from Halee on Facebook:

"Hey Dallas! I just give you and FYI on something that has been going on. Today while driving to my brothers football game this guy was riding my a$$. So I slowed down. He pulled next to me pissed off and decided he was gonna pull his wheel towards my car if I has not been paying attention I would have gotten in a wreck. Not only did I try getting away from him but he followed me, still attempting to make me wreck. Worst part about this, I'm 18 weeks pregnant and my boyfriend (the dad) was with me so he saw everything. It's a black male, in a black Yukon. As I got to the game I was telling my mom about it and earlier that week she had gotten the same guys liscense plate number because he was doing the same thing to other cars. This message is really to warn all drivers in Amarillo to keep an eye open for a black Yukon with liscense plate reading (due to logistics, I can not provide the given plate number unless an official report has been with the police department...I'm awaiting confirmation of the filed report and if it checks out, I'll be given a release to use the # in this post) I'm pretty sure. He is obviously very dangerous and ruthless and will do just about anything to cause someone to have a wreck. The cops were called and we told them the story but not real sure if anything had happened. Anyways if you could just warn people about this guy, it would make me feel a lot better! Thank you!"

From what I've read, when dealing with situations of road rage, there is one common thing to do that usually diffuses the situation.

If you did something to upset a fellow driver, and it looks like things could get ugly, the best thing to do is acknowledge your mistake and express how sorry you are about the situation.

The last thing you should do is ignore them, not make eye contact and act like nothing happened, that will only enrage them more.
