With Thanksgiving days away, everyone is busy buying everything they need for Thanksgiving dinner.  Turkey, ham, all the fixings but how about trying something non-traditional?

Every year we hear about these new recipes for turkey, like when deep fried was new.  But what about all the other dishes like having roasted potatoes instead of mashed.

I'm not really fond of turkey so every year, since I was a little girl, my mom always cooked a brisket.  Yummy!  We still have the traditional turkey and ham, but brisket gives us a different choice.

As I was getting ready to buy things for Thanksgiving I started thinking about everybody else.  I know my family isn't the only one who has a non-traditional food at the dinner table so I started asking around.  One of my friends lives down south around the Louisiana border and they have gumbo for Thanksgiving.  Another friend incorporates lasagna and meatballs into their menu.

We usually only eat turkey once a year, but sometimes even that gets old.  So this year instead of going crazy I'm just going to try some new and fresh ideas for desserts and sides.  I found an awesome recipe for a frozen jello pie.  I was also thinking about making some lemon Parmesan asparagus as a side.  Two new things to add to a traditional Thanksgiving meal.

So if you were wanting to try something different, try new sides or even a new cocktail. There are even recipes to eating healthy around the holidays.   One or two new dishes to your traditional Thanksgiving will make a new fresh tradition.

Do you have an nontraditional dish at your Thanksgiving table?
