On Sunday afternoon a student from Palo Duro high-school was getting a lot of attention at Westgate mall.

The Palo Duro student was doing a school project on social anxiety. This disorder is also known as social phobia. A person with social anxiety has a fear of social situations. The student stood near the food court and had a sign that said "I trust you. Do you trust me? Free Hugs!"

As she stood there with her sign, a large group of people sat around and watched her give free hugs. Many people approached and gave her hugs. After an hour she left and returned, but this time she stood with her sign and was blindfolded with her arms out to see if she would get the same reaction.

She received more hugs without the blindfold than when she had the blindfold on. What I noticed was some people were very skeptical to give her a hug when she was blindfolded.

It was a very cool experiment and really neat to see the people walking off with huge smiles.
