Pet owners often leave their precious animals in the car of pet groomers.  They are professionals and should take care of the the pets as their own, right?  That is not the case at Petco.Grandmother Gladys Kapuwi was horrified when she picked up her Pomerian-Maltese mix Dodo from Petco in Hawaii.  The puppy was dropped off for a grooming but was picked up with a piece of its ear missing.  A Petco groomer cut off part of a puppy's ear and then tried to cover it up by gluing it back on.

Kapuwi told the HawaiiNewsNow website: '[She] was dried, bloody, was dry blood, everything.  I noticed that at home, so when I took her to the vet, the doctor had told me it looked like they tried to glue it back.  I couldn't believe what they did. I started crying because this is our baby, too, you know.'

And this isn't the first incident at Petco.  In a separate case pet owner Estelle Green claims she picked up her dog to find that the its nails were cut too short and bleeding.

Both dog owners are now suing the Petco with Mrs Green's husband Michael Green prosecuting both cases. Both parties are claiming that the pet shop mutilated their beloved pets.

Mr Green told the Hawaii Star Advertiser: 'The dog was filthy and the tip of the dog's tail was cut off.  My dog, they offered another free grooming. I guess they wanted to take off other body parts.'

According to Ms Kapuwai if the staff at Petco would have come clean about Dodo's injury sooner her Vet could have saved the ear and no lawsuit would have developed.

It is very sad that employees at a national pet shop could be so careless and insensitive.  Let's hope that these are the only incidents and that the dogs recover from their injuries.
