A potential father to the baby found in a dumpster in Dalhart, TX, now known as baby Brooks, has come forward.  Ethan McClenney from Olton, Texas, along with his family, came forward claiming to be the father, with his claims being supported by his family members.

McClenney seeks custody of baby Brooks, and has agreed to submit to a paternity test requested by the judge.

Many wait for the results of the test to see if he is in fact the father.

Meanwhile, on August 8th, Hartley County Courthouse in Channing held a hearing for the case.

Many came forward and testified, including Brian Smalley, the father of Shonnie Smalley, the baby's mother. However, Brian Smalley evoked his 5th amendment right, refusing to answer any questions presented to him.

The couple who first found the baby in a Dalhart dumpster also testified. Both confirmed the baby had maggots on his left eye and abrasions to his head when discovered. Details that were confirmed by a nurse from the hospital baby Brooks was taken to that testified.
